147 vulnerable families in the Barara community in Nadi have been assisted with food packs from the Barara Youth Social Club and Barara Youth Football Club.

Shalendra Naidu, a member of the Club says they are determined to assist the less fortunate with whatever they can despite having limited funds.

He says the food packs will last a family for 1 or 2 weeks and it depends on the support of their donors.

Naidu says they were one of the first settlements in Nadi that were on lockdown this year and because many breadwinners of a family are not working, the administration of the club came together and put up a plan on ways they can assist affected families in their community.

He adds through the support of the members, players and donors they were able to assist the families with food packs.

The club member says sometimes they also assist affected families by providing bread and other small items.

The club is also looking to assist more families this week and is requesting the business community for their assistance and support.

If you want to help, you can call Shalendra Naidu on 9047135.
