Fiji Airways Men's National 7s coach, Gareth Baber says the good performance shown by the young players during the Oceania 7s tournament has been impressive and this shows that they can participate on the International stage.
Baber says young players such as Simione Kuruvoli and Kavekini Tabu have a long way to go and playing against teams such as Australia and New Zealand in the Oceania 7s has given them the exposure to participate in an international competition.
He says it was discouraging that they did not win the Oceania Men's 7s tournament last Saturday but winning the Oceania International Men's 7s competition is a great achievement for the young side.
He adds their attention now turns to the opening tournament of the 2019/2020 HSBC 7s Series which is the Dubai 7s and he knows the pressure will be high for them, coming in as the defending series champions.
The Dubai 7s will be held on the 6th to the 8th of December.
Fiji is pooled with France, Japan and Argentina in the Dubai 7s.
