Cases of young children involved in sex and pornography due to the accessibility to phones and TV, lack of boundaries and negligence from parents and families is alarming.
This has been highlighted by Inspire Pacific Co-founder and Program Director Ben Morrison during the fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan when questioned on youth involvement in sex and pornography.
Morrison says more than 60 to 70 percent of children have watched some kind of pornography in Fiji.
He says this normally happens due to poor parenting whereby young girls get pregnant and are not ready for their responsibility.
The Co-founder says there needs to be parental responsibility and empowering parents to be able to understand the values and importance of their roles in society.
Morrison says they are at the early stages and looking at ways and steps to come up with solutions and programs.
He says there are also a lot of organisations including the churches that need to be at the forefront to provide training programs to parents, create awareness and highlight the importance of parenting.
Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran says pornography is also exposed to children by adults around grog bowls.
Kiran further says it is also beyond thinking that an adult can inject drugs into children.
She says there have been parenting programs where the Archbishop of the Catholic Church has been advocating positive parenting programs and training to parents.
