Former Tavua College student Yeshnil Karan won the 3,000 metres race at the Gold Coast Invitational Meet while Pacific sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro finished 5th in the 100 metres event.
Karan clocked an impressive time of 8 minutes 57.96 seconds and Tabakaucoro ran a time of 10.71 seconds.
Leading athletes from Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Kiribati together with Australian and New Zealand athletes, participated in the Gold Coast Invitational Meet.
Karan and Tabakaucoro, with Coach Bola Tafoou, have joined the week-long GAPS camp at Griffith University this morning.
The GAPS program which is organised by the Commonwealth Games Federation has an Athlete Assessments and Athlete Education program while allowing athletes to continue their normal training for upcoming competitions.
Other athletes from Fiji will join up with Karan and Tabakaucoro this Friday in preparation for the Oceania Athletics Championships in Mackay from the 7th to the 11th of June.
