Year 7 student of Draiba Primary School, Anasimeci Kanaveilomani says she is inspired by the achievements made by Ratu Josefa Lalabalavu Vanayaliyali Sukuna who had not only implemented education for the benefit of himself but for the future of Fijians today.
Kanaveilomani who is originally from Mataso in Kadavu says she is inspired by how the late Ratu Sukuna started a learning centre in 1945 that was called Draiba Fijian Primary School, which was aimed to support the education of the iTaukei people.
She says she is proud to have learnt about the stories of the man who won the people's trust and mentored men like Ratu Kamisese Mara who played pivotal roles in the post-independence years.
Draiba Primary School also mentored men like the former President of Fiji, Jioji Konrote and the current President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
Ratu Sukuna Day celebrations continue at Albert Park.
