A Year 2 student of Gospel School of the Deaf is one of the five winners of the Virtual Constitution Day Celebration organized by the President’s Office.
President, Jioji Konrote says Nes Natania Damudamu has been selected as one of the national winners for a video, showing via sign language, how we can all help realize every Fijians constitutional right to health by properly washing hands.
He says they had to think a bit differently about the celebration this year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and because Fiji is a COVID-19 contained country and our children can safely attend schools.
Konrote says they gave children an opportunity to take part in a Virtual Constitution Day competition.
The President says students had to prepare something which could show how we can all work together to uphold every Fijians right to health as enshrined in the Fijian constitution.
Konrote says they received hundreds of submissions through essays, videos, poems and short stories.
Bhawani Dayal Memorial Primary School’s Year 8 student, Raijeli Sakaria gave tips on how to stay COVID-19 safe by installing the careFIJI app.
Labasa College Year 11 students did a sketch that shows how we can keep Fiji COVID-19 contained.
Rakiraki Methodist Mission School Year 8 students Jone Raibevu and Aminiasi Dalituicama contributed a short spoken word performance while Year 10 student, Oswald Morell wrote a powerful essay on why our constitutional right to health matters for every Fijian.
The President has thanked those who participated in the competition.
These students will be hosted by the President at the State House.
