8,000 year 13 students beginning their final year of secondary education tomorrow will be assisted with the $200 Back-to-School support this week.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says over $100 million has already been paid through the initiative.
He says the support is well-timed, with many parents using the funds in productive ways.
Professor Prasad says feedback from villages and settlements shows the importance and timeliness of the initiative, particularly at the beginning of the school year when children need uniforms, sandals, bags and lunch boxes.
He adds that the initiative is part of the Coalition Government's strategy to help low-income families, saying the Back to School support is effective and specifically targeted.
Deputy Prime Minister says this year, the Coalition Government has helped more than 200,000 students through the Back to School Support.
