Despite sharing facilities with Ratu Meli Primary School and losing a classroom to a fire, Yasawa North Secondary School has achieved a 100 percent pass rate in the Year 12 external exams.
Principal Tomasi Lakeba told fijivillage News that the success was due to the sacrifices of students, teachers, and parents.
He says the implementation of three trial exams, extra classes and early morning sessions at 4:30am have contributed to their success.
He further says the fire at the beginning of Term 3 destroyed desks, chairs, office equipment, and students’ books and notes, but support from mainland schools provided resources to help them recover.
Lakeba says the teachers motivated their students to stay focused on their goal from the beginning of the year, and the school is proud to have achieved its target.
