The Yat Sen Secondary School boys under 19 basketball side survived a huge scare from John Wesley College in the quarter final of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball National Championship, escaping with a 16-11 win to advance into the semi finals.
The defending boys U19 champions got through the first two days of the competition unbeaten and recorded comfortable wins in their pool matches.
They will play Swami Vivekananda College in the second semi final this afternoon.
Marist Brothers’ High School 1 will play Suva Grammar School in the first semi final.
Swami Vivekananda College defeated QVS 22-9, Suva Grammar defeated Latter Day Saints 21-16 and Marist 1 defeated RKS 27-6.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ U17 semi finals, Suva Grammar will take on Saint Joseph’s White in the first semi final and Swami Vivekananda will play Gospel in the second semi final.
In the U17 boys semi finals, Suva Grammar will play Marist 1 in the first semi final and International School Suva will take on Yat Sen in the second semi final.
In the U15 boys semi finals, International School Suva will play Marist 1 in the first semi final and Yat Sen Secondary will play Tilak High in the second semi final.
