La La Land was announced as the best film winner at the 2017 Oscars but then had to hand the award over to Moonlight after a mistake was noticed in what was the most dramatic moment in the history of the Academy Awards.
In extraordinary scenes, the La La Land team were halfway through their victory speeches, when it was noticed that the wrong film name had been read out by Warren Beatty and that Moonlight was actually the winner.
The stars and crew of La La Land shuffled off the stage and handed their gold statuettes to a jubilant Moonlight team.
Beatty said he had been given the wrong envelope to open.

“Moonlight” a film about a poor, young, gay, black, marginalised man in America has won the Oscar for Best Picture at this years’ Academy Awards.
89th Academy Awards Host Jimmy Kimmel today surprised a group of Hollywood tourists by bringing them out on live television during the 2017 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
The tour group had no idea they were going to be on television and thought they were going to be seeing an exhibit on Oscar fashion.
Instead, the group got to meet Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Ryan Gosling, Denzel Washington and more.
One lucky lady was gifted with Jennifer Aniston‘s sunglasses, and another pair got “married” by Denzel Washington.
“Moonlight” also won the Oscar for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay.
“La La Land” that is leading all movies with 14 nominations at the 89th Academy awards bagged 6 Oscars this year.
“La La Land” won Oscars for Cinematography, Best Music Original Score, Best Production Design, Directing, and edging Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go” to win the Oscar for Best Music Original Song.
Emma Stone has won the Best actress in a leading role for the film La La Land and Casey Affleck has the won the Best Actor in a leading role for the film Manchester by the Sea.
Viola Davis won the Oscar best supporting actress for “Fences” while Mahershala Ali won best supporting actor for his role in “Moonlight.”
In other categories, “O.J. Made in America” won best documentary feature,“Zootopia” won the Oscar for best animated feature film, “Manchester by the Sea” won the Oscar for Writing Original Screenplay while, “The Jungle Book” won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects and “Hacksaw Ridge” won two Oscars for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
