The new series World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji which was shot in Fiji in September last year was released today on Amazon Prime.
There are 10 episodes showing 66 teams from 30 countries battling it out in the mountains, forests and rivers in Viti Levu.
As part of the race, 350 participants had to progress 24 hours a day, uninterrupted, over 600 kilometres of mountains and jungle.
People should prepare to see the limits of human physical and mental endurance tested like never before by the unforgiving Fijian terrain.
You will also watch people from all walks of life and every corner of the globe join together to overcome the most incredible obstacles.
The challenges lie both within the course itself, and competitors’ equally daunting personal struggles, which are only magnified by the demands of the expedition.
Most importantly, the race showcases the natural beauty of Fiji and its traditional way of life through connections made with villages.
Famous television presenter and survival instructor, Bear Grylls is the host and co-producer.
Grylls says there a lot of super fit people out there but the World’s Toughest Race is about so much more than that.
He told KTLA News that his job is to be hands-off unless people's lives are on the line.
Grylls says the race is old school as there is no GPS and competitors have to navigate through a compass and map.
He says people have to work as a team of four and if only one of them gives up, then the race is over.
The prize money for the race was $100,000 while the second runner up got $50,000. $25,000 went to the team that finished in third place.
You will need to subscribe to Amazon Prime Video to watch World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji.
