A workshop focused on the use of Open Educational Resources has successfully ended on a high note at the University of the South Pacific’s Workforce Development Training Unit.

The week‑long workshop was facilitated by the Commonwealth of Learning and hosted by USP’s Pacific Technical and Further Education.

There were 17 participants from across the Pacific who learnt how to adapt to up‑to‑date relevant information, contexualise the adaptation and use the information in their course design content to create a learning environment that is conducive to the 21st century skills and knowledge.

USP Deputy Vice‑Chancellor Professor Richard Coll says learning, Teaching, Student Services and flexible learning is not an option for USP, but is a must in order to increase access of tertiary studies in its member countries across the Pacific.

Professor Coll says the current Strategic Plan of USP is very strong on flexible learning, which pushes for course conversion, innovative technologies, emerging Open Educational Resources and Massively Opens Online Course.
