Works to clean and de‑silt the Wainibuku Creek in Nakasi, have been delayed due to certain issues.
Ministry of Waterways Director Operations Mahendra Kumar says there are houses along the creek and several of these are fenced, while some have gardens and trees near the creek which restricts the movement of heavy machinery such as diggers.
Kumar says the issues have been resolved and works should complete by the end of next week.
These works are being carried out as a result of ankle deep water in the Shop N Save Supermarket during a heavy downpour earlier this year.
The Supermarket is located in Rups Complex Nakasi which is situated next to the Wainibuku Creek.
Kumar says he will be able reveal the cost of the whole operation upon completion of the works.
