Women should have the confidence to become leaders as the country has a lot of resources to build women on this path.

This has been highlighted by the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Shashi Kiran on the second day of the 200th birth anniversary celebration of Arya Samaj founder Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati at the DAV College in Nabua.

She is urging the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji to bring in courses like women’s or girl’s leadership programs into their school system and develop them with leadership skills.

She says Maharishi Dayanand had made an education system for the betterment of women and some women of the Arya Samajh have also inspired her.

Kiran says Maharishi Dayanand is respected, he was a very knowledgeable person and a revolutionary leader.

She in the last 200 years, Maharshi Dayanand has brought a new enlightenment to the society and from the time of the Girmitiyas, the Sabha has always followed his values and principles which are being followed today as well.

She says he used to opt for challenges and has shown a new path to people where they could help their society in the upbringing of the values and principles of life.

Kiran further says as the government is establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, she is urging people to take part in this where people will learn a lot of things as country has been through a lot of challenges over the years.

She says will people get an opportunity to get all their questions answered and they will be able to live a better life and move forward.
