The Women of the Nakasi Hart Community were given a timely boost yesterday when the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation donated three sewing machines to help them continue the income generating programs which they are currently undertaking.

While addressing the women of the Nakasi Hart Community, the National Director for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Arieta Moceica encouraged the women to work together and use the donated sewing machines as a stepping stone in providing a source of income for themselves and their families.

Moceica said they will continue to build the skills of women in vulnerable communities around the country and will also ensure that women with whatever socio‑economic backgrounds are self‑reliant.

She also stressed how essential it was for women to be empowered as it encouraged poverty alleviation.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer for the Housing Assistant Relief Trust, Pisirio Furivai stated how grateful he was for the Ministry's initiative in being pro‑active towards the idea of women being economically active.

The Nakasi Hart Community Leader, Litiana Matalau also expressed her happiness and joy for the timely donation by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.

She has also given her assurance that her community will strive for best and continue work hard and support each other.
