Women MPs voices is not resonating enough – Law student

Despite efforts made by women Parliamentarians to raise awareness about issues affecting women and children, their voices are not making a significant impact, as cases of domestic violence continue to rise.

This was highlighted by a 33-year-old FNU Law student during the Capacity Building Training for Women and Youth Prospective Election Candidates, organised by Dialogue Fiji at the Central Cuisine while expressing her opinion on the underrepresentation of women in politics.

The Law student, who wishes to be known as Sala, says domestic violence remains a critical issue that demands urgent attention alongside other issues that mentally affect women and youths.

She says women should not limit themselves and they will never truly know their capabilities and passions until they try something new with the support of their loved ones.

Through her participation in the workshop, she hopes to gain valuable knowledge from the organisers, NGOs and fellow participants, which will equip her to contribute meaningfully to societal change.

The workshop will conclude this afternoon.
