A team from the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has been directed to look into the matter where a woman claims she and her 11-year old daughter have no source of income and need urgent assistance.
This has been confirmed by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa.
The woman contacted us through our Hands Across Fiji Facebook page which is run by Legend FM, FM96, Navtarang, Radio Sargam, Viti FM, and Fijivillage.
The Hands Across Fiji Facebook Page connects people who need assistance in their own areas to those wanting to assist them, after the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The woman who lives in Suva claims her husband was the sole breadwinner for the family allegedly attempted to rape her daughter and is in remand at the moment.
She says her husband is not the biological father of her daughter.
The woman claims she and her daughter are finding it very difficult to cope and are going through a lot of financial difficulties.
She says she used to work as a caregiver but lost her job after the first case of COVID-19 and would be grateful if people could provide them with groceries and further assistance.
