Sonny Bill Williams has confirmed that he is heading back to his NRL club, the Sydney Roosters.
After a week of speculation, the cross-code superstar has revealed to 9News that he will return to the club where he won the championship back in 2013.
Williams had been a part of Toronto Wolfpack's first Super League season in Europe, but the financial strains of COVID-19 had forced the club to withdraw from a revamped competition set to start next month.
Williams says he has been in constant contact with the Roosters Chief Executive Nick Politis and coach Trent Robinson where they both have been asking him on what is happening in Europe and if he has a couple of months in him to return to the NRL.
Williams will need an exemption from Australian Rugby League to play, but chairman Peter V'Landys has indicated that he will be granted to play in the NRL.
The 34-year-old superstar will need to serve a two-week quarantine in Sydney, before joining his new teammates next month.
