Veteran All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock is now facing a race against time to be fit for the first test against Ireland next month.
Following his heroics in the Super Rugby Pacific final against the Blues, it was revealed that Whitelock played with a broken thumb.
The 33-year-old played a crucial role in the victory where he made 8 tackles, won 2 turnovers and caused havoc at the lineout, ensuring the Blues lost more lineouts than they won.
The first test match between the All Blacks and Ireland will be played on July 2nd at 7.05pm.
