National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says families are the basic unit from which a community, a village and a country grows and when they strengthen families, they strengthen the nation.
In his Christmas message, Prasad says he wishes to remind everybody the important role that family plays in their lives.
He says this year has been a hard year for families adding the increase in the cost of living, the unavailability of proper social housing for low-income families and the dwindling state of country’s health system have played a part in making the lives of our families harder.
However, the NFP leader says the country is truly blessed because Fijians are always ready to lend a helping hand to those in our family that are in need.
He adds in the true spirit of Christmas, he wishes to also encourage Fijians to extend a helping hand to those that may not be in your immediate families; the sick, the infirm and those that may not have a family to celebrate with this Christmas.
Prasad says Christmas is one of the most important holidays in the Christian Calendar, the remembrance of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ and it signifies renewal, restoration and hope.
