It is already six days into 2021 but confusion can remain around when people should stop saying happy new year.
The simple answer would be that there is no set rule of when people should stop giving out happy new year wishes.
The Metro newspaper in the UK spoke to etiquette expert Lisa Forde who says people want to settle into the new year as quickly as possible without being reminded that it is a new year, or that new year’s celebrations and Christmas are over.
She says she understands it’s a wish that lasts all year round, but nothing comes from a prolonged new year wish.
We spoke to some people in Suva today and they thought that people should continue new year's wishes until March but the majority wanted it to stop after January.
