It was an emotional morning for Alumita Kuruvoli, the mother of Fiji Water Flying Fijians player Simione Kuruvoli, seeing her son create history as the Flying Fijians beat the Wallabies 22-15.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Alumita says they were screaming out their lungs, cheering for Simi and at the same time they were so emotional because they usually see him on TV playing halfback rather than kicking goals.
She is grateful to the coaches for trusting her son with the kicking duties, and she says he surpassed all expectations.
She said the night the team was named for the Wallabies game, she called Simi to congratulate and encourage him on the task ahead.
Alumita says she wished France was close by so he could watch and cheer for her son from the stands.
She adds Simi's brothers and sisters look up to him as a role model and they were also cheering him on this morning.
Alumita is also encouraging the players to always be humble and play their best game because everyone in Fiji is behind them.
Kuruvoli kicked over four penalties and converted Josua Tuisova's try.
The Flying Fijians will meet Georgia at 3.45am on the 1st of October.
