Whalberg dethrones Dwayne Johnson as Hollywood’s highest‑paid actor

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been muscled out of the top spot on Hollywood’s highest‑paid actor in a surprise upset.

Mark Wahlberg has clinched the top spot on Forbes’ rich list, pocketing $US68 million in 2017.

Wahlberg proved you can collect big bank by making critically panned films like sequels Transformers: The Last Knight and Daddy’s Home 2.

The Hollywood actress, Emma Stone is 2017's best paid actress making $USD26m.

Whalberg dethroned last year’s king Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who came in second with $US65m for Baywatch, the Ballers TV series and upcoming remake Jumanji.

Vin Diesel, on the back of the Fast and Furious and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises, took third with $US54.5m.

The Chinese box office powered Jackie Chan to fifth place with $US49m while Bollywood trio — 8th Shah Rukh Khan $US38m, 9th Salman Khan $US37m and 10th Akshay Kumar $US35.5m — pushed most of Hollywood’s biggest names out of the top 10.
