The Fiji Roads Authority say that they will be removing the ropes that villagers in Tamavua are using as humps to control the speed of vehicles passing by.
They say that no one is allowed to place any rope on the road as it poses a safety threat to a vehicle or a pedestrian if its loose.
They also say that the delay caused by these humps can also increase response times for emergency services vehicles such as Police, Ambulance or the Fire Authority.
The Fiji Roads Authority also says that installation of speed humps is the last resort when all other safety measures fail and that the public needs to understand that speed humps is not the instant solution for traffic issues.
