Former Fijian Holding Limited CEO, Sitiveni Weleilakeba who has been working in Papua New Guinea since 2010 is relieved and looking forward to returning to his family after a long 20-month court battle.
The Post Courier reports that it was earlier alleged that Weleilakeba had misappropriated Kina665,000 belonging to Comrade Trustee Services Limited, a type of a superannuation fund for serving members of the PNG Defence Force.
This cost Weleilakeba his job and and months away from his family.
The National Court found him not guilty of the crime and dropped all allegations against him.
A relieved and emotional Weleilakeba said the long wait was finally over as he would now set off to retain his passport and head home.
