Weather update: Heavy rain warning still remains in force for Vanua Levu and some other parts of Fiji

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Group, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Northern and Western parts of Viti Levu.         

The Nadi Weather Office says a Tropical Disturbance was located at about 330 kilometers West‑Northwest of Nadi at 9am this morning and is expected to move east‑northeast and pass very close to Vanua Levu later tonight.

The associated clouds and rain is expected to affect the group till tomorrow night.

A trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Fiji.

A flood alert remains in force for the low‑lying areas, small streams for Vanua Levu and Northern and Western parts of Viti Levu.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and the Northern Lau Group.
