Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says we will emerge stronger from TC Yasa and will come out stronger from this global pandemic and resulting economic crises.

In his New Year’s message, Bainimarama says he remembers the promise he made to the Fijian people after TC Winston that we would build back better and they have done the assessments where not one government-funded school, building, or critical piece of infrastructure that they rebuilt was destroyed by TC Yasa.

He says there will be children in classrooms and essential services that reach the people because they are delivering on their promise of a more resilient Fiji.

Bainimarama adds while the COVID-19 pandemic is peaking in overseas, Fiji remains among the safest places in the world.

Bainimarama adds a new year won’t flip some magical switch that ends the storms of 2020 and this pandemic will rage on for months more but the light of a new and better year is peering through the clouds as there is a vaccine.

Bainimarama is also calling on Fijians to stay safe behind the wheel as this holiday season has already seen far too many accidents and deaths on our roads.

He says aside from attending to road accidents, the authorities have enough work on their plate and through the Christmas holiday and into the New Year, they are restoring services, clearing roads, and delivering relief to families who were in the path of severe Cyclone Yasa.
