Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says they want people to live together peacefully.

While speaking during the traditional ceremony of welcome by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rabuka says it is proper for all Fijians to live peacefully in Fiji and internationally.

He says he has completed the efforts of former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, in his attempt to reconsolidate the region, particularly in the interest of the Pacific Islands Forum.

Rabuka adds they would like to pursue that very quickly before they hand over the Chair to Cook Islands in a matter of a few weeks.

He says since independence, this is the first time they have elected a Prime Minister on the floor of parliament.
