Fiji Airways Men’s 7s coach Ben Gollings says they need to focus on their own game and build from where they were in Singapore and Canada by putting in consistent showings at the Toulouse 7s.
Fiji claimed gold and silver in the Singapore and Vancouver 7s respectively, after missing out on the Spain leg early this year due to an outbreak of COVID within the Fiji camp.
Gollings says they were really pleased with how things went in Singapore and Vancouver, especially with a slightly less experienced squad than Fiji has been used to putting out, but there is still room for improvement.
He says this was a good learning curve for them and the boys have trained so hard and their desire to get better as individuals and as a team really impressed him.
Fiji’s first pool match at the Toulouse 7s is against Kenya at 12.34am tomorrow, they take on Wales at 8.33am tomorrow and then play France at 12.34am Sunday.
The men’s quarterfinals will start at 4.04am Sunday, the semifinals will begin at 12.14am next Monday and the final will be played at 4.26am on the same day.
