Highlanders Coach Tony Brown says they always knew they would be playing against the whole of Fiji today and he is proud of how his players held on to win 27-24 against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua.
Brown says he understands the game of rugby is huge in Fiji and they love being part of a historic occasion such as this.
Highlanders captain Aaron Smith says they knew the Drua would have their moments.
He says they are proud of how the players held on and came home when they needed it the most.
The Highlanders will now play the Force next week at Forsyth Bar Stadium while the Fijian Drua will take on the Hurricanes.
