State broadcaster FBC TV CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has today announced that they have ended their contract with Wasea Bhasha host Nemani Bainivalu.
Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this was done after going through their Internal Policy Guidelines.
Broadcast media organizations normally have producers, executive producers, editors or programmers who oversee any content before it is broadcast on air.
When asked if FBC TV has checks and balances in place for the program before it goes on air, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that Nemani Bainivalu eventually became responsible for the content of the show.
While responding to the Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa’s statement for the FBC CEO to resign, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum raised the question on what Ro Teimumu did when some of her MPs had made some irresponsible comments in parliament.
He says his role is to set the guidelines at the start of any new show that they produce and the hosts eventually become producers and are responsible for the content of the shows.
