We can achieve the impossible at the Paris Olympic Games.
Those were the words of two-time Olympic gold-medallist Jerry Tuwai as he and the Fiji Men’s 7s side step up their preparation for the upcoming Olympics next month.
Tuwai has made the cut for the 20-member squad that was named over the weekend after it was trimmed down from 30 players.
The 35-year-old says the boys are gelling well together for the past few weeks and are adapting well to the changes that have been brought into the side.
Tuwai says it was evident during the HSBC Madrid 7s where the team started playing the winning style of rugby that Fiji is known for even though they fell short in the semi finals.
He adds with the inclusion of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua duo Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada, they are building a great combination for the Olympics.
Tuwai says he believes that of all the teams that are coming into the Olympics, there is one team they will be fully focused on beating and that is Fiji since they have won the last two gold medals in the Olympics 7s competition. Fiji is in a tough pool in the Paris Olympics as they are pooled with hosts France, USA and Uruguay.
The Olympic 7s will be from the 25th to the 31st of July 2024.
