Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau says they are not where they are expected to be at the moment in terms of fitness and that is what they are really working hard on.
When asked how he rates the team’s fitness on a scale from 1 to 10, Kolinisau says they are still at 5 at the moment.
He says they monitored the players’ fitness when they started training again this week as they want to start the next tournament from where they left off at the HSBC Hong Kong 7s.
Kolinisau says he felt that the boys gave the tournament away at the Hong Kong 7s even though they had their chances to clinch it.
He says they are also working on a few other areas like their tackling techniques and their game plans, but on a positive note, it is good to see the boys all back at training.
Kolinisau has also revealed that four new players have joined the extended squad and they were scouted from the recent 48th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s last month.
He says their inclusion has really provided the competition to other players in the team and he is looking forward to working with them in the next few weeks.
The next leg of the HSBC SVNS World Series will be held in Singapore from the 3rd to the 5th of next month.
