Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the military is ready for any scenario after confirmation that Iran has launched drones towards the country.
This comes nearly two weeks after Quds Force commander, Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was killed in an air strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.
Tehran had quickly blamed Israel for the attack and vowed to respond.
In an address to the nation, Netanyahu says Israel has been preparing for a direct attack by Iran in recent years, and especially in recent weeks.
He says they have deployed their defensive system and are ready for any scenario, both defensively and offensively.
He further says the State of Israel is strong, the IDF is strong, and the public is strong.
He also thanked allies, including the US and UK, for standing alongside Israel.
Netanyahu adds they have determined a clear principle, and whoever harms them, they will harm.
He further added that they will defend themselves against any threat and will do so with determination.
He also called on Israeli citizens to follow the directives of the IDF Home Front Command, adding that together they will stand and with God's help – together they will overcome all of their enemies.
At least 33,686 Palestinians have been killed and 76,309 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas's October 7 attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens of people still held captive.
