Minister for Forestry, Osea Naiqamu says they are planning to plant as many trees as possible to reduce the threat of climate change.
Naiqamu highlighted this while speaking at a consultation with the people of Navuniivi village in Ra with regards to the 4 Million Trees in 4 Years program.
He says as 91 percent of land in Fiji is owned by the iTaukei, the government will hold consultations with the villagers before the trees are planted on their land.
He also thanked the villagers of Navuniivi for allowing the Ministry to plant trees on their land.
The ITaukei Land Trust Board as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program will work with the government, communities and civil societies to plant 4 million trees by next year.
