Army Commander, Major General Jone Kalouniwai has stressed to members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces that they are duty bound to vote in the upcoming general elections.
While speaking at the Commander’s End of the Year Parade at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Major General Kalouniwai says as we go to the polls, the future is dependent on what happens in the next few days where we have the opportunity to choose the country’s path.
The Army Commander says on the basis of their constitutional mandate, they are duty bound to vote.
Major General Kalouniwai says they must look at this as a duty to avoid complicity with injustice.
Army Commander, Major General Jone Kalouniwai has stressed to members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces that whatever the outcome after the 2022 general elections, it is the time for them to honour the democratic process by respecting the outcome of the votes.
While speaking at the Commander’s End of the Year Parade at Queen Elizabeth Barracks today, Major General Kalouniwai made his point clear.
The Army Commander told the soldiers that they must keep in perspective their constitutional mandate that regardless of the outcome, democracy is alive and God is our sovereign.
Major General Kalouniwai says he prays that as an institution, they always set their eyes, ears and hearts upon the Lord, and that through the convictions of His Holy Spirit, he will lead us to righteousness.
