Water will be carted to Cikobia Island up north eastern Vanua Levu as the prolonged dry spell affects water sources.
The National Disaster Management Office acting director Pajiliai Dobui said Vanua Levu has not been affected too badly.
He said the Government barge Kaiwai will be able to cart water to Cikobia and after that is done it will return and take further supplies for the rehab program in Vanua Levu.
Meanwhile, Dobui has clarified that no water ban had been issued contrary to some media reports last week.
He said that the request was for people to use water sparingly so that everyone enjoys the privileges of water because most are metered and some enjoy water from other sources.
He hopes people will stop using water for washing of cars and watering gardens so that water is available for those that are not metered and would need water to be carted to them on a daily and weekly basis.
