Water Authority of Fiji at the Waila Pumping Station

Water supply to thousands of people living in Nasinu and parts of Suva is expected to normalise later today.

The Water Authority of Fiji has confirmed they are refilling the Nasinu Reservoir.

The water level at the Nasinu Reservoir has risen from 1.14 metres at 5am to a healthy level of 1.8 metres in the last hour and is expected to reach 2 metres gradually.

Areas affected include all elevated areas in Nasinu, Vesivesi Road, Kinoya Road, Laucala Beach, Kaua Road, Bulei Road, Ratu Dovi Road, Nokonoko Road, Vatuwaqa Area, Grantham Road Area, Wainivula Road and Whippy Street.

The Water Authority says water carting trucks have been provided to these areas.

The interruption in supply is due to low inflow of water from the Waila Raw Water Pumping Station to the Waila Water Treatment Plant resulting in low water levels to the service reservoir in Nasinu.

The low inflow was a result of blocked pipes at the Waila Water Treatment Plant that has been fixed by the Authority.
