13 year old Manasa Nariri of Wai District School in Nadroga was over the moon today knowing he will not be worried about the water supply at their school.
Nariri who is a boarder for the past two years starts his day by waking up early in the morning to fetch water from the next village if there is no water at the school.
The Class 8 student said children in the dormitories have to make sure enough water is stored in school before their classes begin.
Nariri said students are also accessing clean water compared to past years.
While commissioning the water project, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said parents are encouraging their children to go to school, at the same time these students must have access to clean drinking water.
He said if children do not drink clean water then they will get sick and miss out on classes.
The water project was funded by the Fiji Water Foundation and Rotary Pacific Water for Life.
