The Water Authority of Fiji is urging people in the greater Nausori area to store water for use due to urgent repairs undertaken by their operations team from 9pm tonight onwards to replace a major valve located at the Vuci By Pass which encountered a fault causing it to be inoperable.
They say the fault is causing low pressure, intermittent or no water supply to customers.
WAF is currently working with their counterparts from EFL to identify major power lines located in close vicinity to their area of work before excavation works commence today to ensure the safety for workers is maintained during repairs and EFL assets are not damaged unnecessarily.
Areas that are currently being affected by this fault are: Nadali, Nausori Koro, Vuci, Vuci South, Lobau,Waituri, Naduru, Kuku, Visama, Nakelo, Naimalavau - Kiuva, Vunimono, Natogadravu – Wainibokasi, Wainibokasi – Nasali, Kadavu Road, Tokatoka Village, Burebasaga, Nausori Town, Vuniiviivi.
WAF say for the repair works to be undertaken, the pumps to Raralevu from Waila Water Treatment Plant will be required to shut down hence the following areas will be affected:
Vuci By-Pass Nadali, Nausori Koro, Vuci, Vuci South, Lobau,Waituri, Naduru, Kuku, Visama, Nakelo, Naimalavau - Kiuva, Vunimono, Natogadravu – Wainibokasi, Wainibokasi – Nasali, Kadavu Road, Tokatoka Village, Burebasaga, Nausori Town, Vuniiviivi.
Raralevu Reservoir, Lakena, Verata, Baulevu, Kasavu, Ovea, Cautata, Taro, Bau, Namuka, Nakavau, Dravo, Mokani, Momi, Raralevu Village, Namata, Vusuya, Nasogovau, Naila
Rewa Reservoir Dilkusha, Rewa, Lal Singh, Waila Housing, Lelean Memorial School, Davuilevu, Toga
The Water Authority of Fiji currently has 15 water carting trucks dedicated to providing relief supplies while working on rectifying the fault.
