Repair and maintenance works at the Nagado Water Treatment Plant have been completed and 80% of water restoration within the larger Nadi and Lautoka areas is expected to normalise from this morning.
Water Authority of Fiji, Chief Operating Officer, Samanmal Ekanayake says supply to areas towards Momi which has the longest pipeline will take some additional time due to the distance and is expected to be fully restored by Wednesday.
He says 70 water carting vehicles are still on standby and have been carting water to all affected areas with a total of 48 trucks and 5 twin cabs allocated for affected areas in Nadi and 17 water carting trucks for affected areas in Lautoka.
Water Authority has also increased the number of trucks on the ground with a total of 200 water tanks being placed at strategic locations for people to go and refill in their containers and gallons.
The repair works saw the defective Polyjet valve being repaired as it had sustained major damages causing severe weathering to the chamber walls and the Polyjet valve.
