Swire Shipping Fijian Drua utility back Waqa Nalaga is excited about his first Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season this year.
During an interview with fijivillage News, the 20-year-old says he is looking forward to playing with some of his former teammates back in New Zealand.
The Nasama, Sigatoka man represented the Manawatu Turbos in the National Provincial Championship in NZ before he was drafted into the Hurricanes’ extended squad last year.
He was later named in the Fijian Drua squad for the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season.
Nalaga says being part of the Drua is a great experience for him and he just can’t wait for the season to start.
Nalaga says he is just working on his game and trying to improve every day, and if the opportunity to represent the Flying Fijians in the future comes, he will be honoured to play alongside his Fijian brothers on the international stage.
The former Cuvu College student is the younger brother of former Flying Fijians winger Napolioni Nalaga and the son of former Fiji 7s and 15s rep Kavekini Nalaga.
Waqa is expected to make his first appearance for the Drua this week after being named in the Drua game-day squad to take on the Melbourne Rebels tomorrow in Melbourne.
The Drua will play the Rebels at 5.30pm tomorrow.
They will take on the Blues at 3.35pm next Saturday in Auckland in their first Super Rugby Pacific match this year.
