Waila City will be revived in 2 years time.
This was confirmed by the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in the last parliament sitting.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that they have an allocation for Waila City in a motion for government to guarantee the Housing Authority borrowing of $150 million.
The project which was supposed to be done by Malaysia’s Top Symphony Company in partnership with the Housing Authority was also supposed to build over five thousand houses in a period of ten years.
Thousands of applications were received by the Housing Authority for these houses.
The one billion dollar Waila City Project was also supposed to be a major sports and tourist attraction of the country.
The City would be located on over 700 acres of freehold land that belongs to the Authority in Waila.
We are still trying to get confirmation from the Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar if the Waila City will be revived based on its original plan.
