The people of Waibasaga Village in Naitasiri will no longer wait for government’s assistance to build a new bridge after enduring the terrifying reality of crossing the Wainimala River everyday.

Determined to find a solution, the villagers have started a fundraising initiative to construct a safer crossing.

Villagers say that crossing the river is their greatest fear when travelling to school, the market, or the hospital, as they are forced to navigate waters that show no mercy.

They hope that through community contributions and support from well-wishers, they can finally build the bridge that will bring security and peace of mind to their daily lives.

They are also calling on all Fijians to donate through their GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/8ac756f8
