A team of engineers from the Water Authority of Fiji will be deployed this morning to assess the damages and conduct repair work to its two burst water mains in Labasa.
The Authority Regional Manager Northern Apeteniko Radrodrolagi has confirmed that a 15-inch PVC water main from their Naselevu intake connecting to the Benau reservoir has burst.
Radrodrolagi says the burst main is located in the middle of Dogoru River and access is still restricted due to the strong currents and their team will wait for the flood levels to recede in order to urgently attend to these two water main bursts.
The whole of Labasa is affected by these two burst mains.
20 water carting trucks will be carting water to metered and non -metered areas in Labasa.
