A group of 26 students from Vugalei District School in Tailevu will be accompanied by their Year 8 teacher and Assistant Head Teacher Swastika Ravikashini Lata Kumar to the Fiji National University’s Open Day next month.
Kumar says this will allow the students to make informed decisions for their career.
She says the Open Day will give the rural students a firsthand experience of the academic pathways available to them and have knowledge about subjects in high school to make their dreams a reality.
The Assistant Head Teacher says students can connect their aspirations with the academic paths by speaking directly to academics and university students.
FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba who also hails from Vugalei says students are eager to follow in her footsteps, drawing motivation from her achievements and dedication to education.
Professor Nabobo-Baba adds with hard work and dedication, students of Vugalei District can also achieve great things, regardless of where they come from.
The FNU Open Day will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of October across various campuses, with thousands of students from Fiji expected to attend.
