Vodafone Fiji has today announced that they will complete their $210 million network upgrade within two weeks and have also rolled out their new data plans.
Under the new plans people can get 80GB data for $25, 120GB for $35 and 180GB data for $50, 250GB data for $50, 350GB data for $69 and 400GB data for $75 a month.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Ronald Prasad says the new data plans announced are in line with the drop in wholesale data rates from $40,000 to $640 per 10 GB line and government’s decision not to charge telecommunications companies 10 cents for a gigabyte of data.
Prasad says following the completion of this project almost 85% of Fiji will have access to 4G network and they will cover 96% of Fiji’s population.
He says the project was due to be completed in April this year but it was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
It includes the construction of 147 new sites across Fiji which brings the total number of sites to 540.
Prasad says considering the crisis they understand that the demand for fast internet is at an all-time high where people need internet to work from home, study and socialize.
