Over a hundred tennis players from Fiji and the Pacific will compete in the Suva Open Tennis Championship, which was launched today alongside the announcement of Vodafone Fiji's extended sponsorship for a third consecutive year.
During the launch, Head of Enterprise Development at Vodafone Fiji, Antonio Kitione announced the company's partnership with Suva Tennis will continue until 2026.
Kitione emphasised that Vodafone's commitment to the Suva Open extends beyond financial sponsorship, reflecting their belief in the importance of fostering talent, promoting healthy competition, and building a strong community around tennis.
A member of the Suva Tennis Executive Committee, Manu'hapai Jioji Qaqaturaga expressed her gratitude to Vodafone for their support.
She highlighted the growth and recognition of local tennis players and stressed the unique challenges and benefits of tennis compared to other sports.
Qaqaturaga encouraged participants to use the tournament as an opportunity to showcase their talents and learn from one another.
Suva Tennis Coach and former national representative Andrew Mailtorok adds that the event will provide more pathways for young players and enhancing the sport in Fiji.
The Vodafone Suva Open Tennis Championship will take place from September 13th to 16th at the Victoria Tennis Court, Suva Lawn Tennis Club, and Pathik Tennis Club in Namadi Heights.
