Vodafone dismisses claims by customers that purchased credit is being used without approval

Many Vodafone Fiji customers are raising concerns that once their mobile data bundles expire, they are charged through their purchased credit without being asked for approval.

The concern is also the same in terms of customers being automatically re‑subscribed to the data plan they are using when it expires.

In response to questions by Fijivillage, Vodafone Fiji says it is not using its customers’ purchased credit without their approval when the customers’ data bundle has expired.

Although concerns continue to be raised by customers, Vodafone Head of eCommerce and Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad says there are terms and conditions applicable to each plan and this is made known to the customer prior to them subscribing to any plan.

He says once subscribed into a plan and as customers allocated data reaches a balance of 50MB and 10MB data, they are proactively informed by Vodafone through automated flash messages.

Prasad says those automated flash messages say to the customers mobile device that they will run out of the data soon or have finished their data plan quota and standard web browsing charges of $2.79 per MB will apply outside the data bundle plan.

He says another automated flash message is sent to customers device as soon as allocated data reaches a balance of 0MB, informing the customer that they have finished their data plan quota and that unless they renew their data plan, standard per MB rate of data usage charges shall apply outside the data plan.

Prasad says the decision and control of the data usage either through a bundle or outside the bundle is entirely the customers choice.
