Vodafone Fiji in collaboration with the Sugarcane Growers Fund and Vinod Patel has introduced a new initiative using the M-paisa system.
Under this system, farmers can now receive loans from the Sugarcane Growers Fund on their mobile phones through M-Paisa.
Vodafone Fiji’s Head of eCommerce and Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad says farmers will no longer have to come to the sector office, stay the whole day and go through all the hassle like in the past.
He says now when the money reaches the farmer on the M-paisa account, they will be able to use the funds instantly.
Meanwhile, Vinod Patel has also stepped in to support the farmers by providing them with a special price when purchasing items from any of their outlets using M-paisa.
Vinod Patel’s General Manager- Sales and Operations Neelesh Singh says farmers are the backbone of the country and it is their responsibility to give something back to them and to ensure that they get value for money.
